Domaine Maratray Dubreuil 1er Cru Les Grechons 2023

The vineyards of Maratray Dubreuil have been worked by the same family for three generations, deeply embedded in the Côte de Beaune. The Maratray family originates from the village of Ladoix, and the Dubreuil family vineyards came from Pernand-Vergelesses. Today the estate is managed by the sister and brother team of Marie-Madeleine and Francis Xavier Maratray. All grapes are hand-harvested, and Francis Xavier decides how each wine is vinified according to its terroir, climate, and vintage. This small estate consistently over-delivers, producing splendid wines that punch well above their weight.

About This Wine

A Premier Cru Ladoix from the Les Grechons climat, farmed to HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certified standards. Ladoix is one of Burgundy’s best-kept secrets — Premier Cru quality at a fraction of the price of its more famous neighbours. Proper 1er Cru character, great to drink now but will improve well over the next three to four years.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Lovely pale golden with warm highlights.
Nose: Elegant and complex — honeycomb, hazelnuts, subtle oak, and fine minerality.
Palate: Weighty and textured with ripe apple, citrus, and white stone fruit, underpinned by a mineral backbone.
Finish: Long and persistent — proper Premier Cru quality.

Food Pairing

Excellent with roast chicken, grilled fish, and aged cheeses. The weight and texture also make it a natural partner for veal, lobster, and creamy sauces.
