Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is a high-quality thin-skinned black grape which is difficult to grow. Originated in the Burgundy region of France it's also grown in Italy, Austria, German, Hungary, New Zealand and South Africa.
Pinot Noir can produce very complex wines with characteristic farmyard aromas and can exhibit elegant tannins with notes of red fruits such as raspberry and strawberry.
The name is derived from the French words for pine and black. The word pine alludes to the grape variety having tightly clustered, pinecone—shaped bunches of fruit.
