Château Platon 2023

The Dumas-Gauthier family has owned Château Platon in Sainte-Radegonde, about ten kilometres southeast of Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, since 1907. Until Christelle Gauthier — daughter of the previous owner — took over in 2011, the wine was sold in bulk to the local cooperative. The vines grow on ten hectares of gently sloping vineyards, with grass grown between the rows to limit yields, and the soil is worked three times each season to discourage superficial roots. Christelle made her first vintage in 2015 with the help of her friend Jean-François Meynard of Château La Bourrée — a great success and the first wines ever bottled on the property.

About This Wine

A classic Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc from HVE-certified vineyards — a wine of real character and depth from a producer with a compelling story. Excellent value from one of Bordeaux's most exciting emerging estates.
