Cava
The origins of Cava lie in the winemaking area of Penedés, especially in the town of San Sadurní d’Anoia and its surroundings, which has earned the title of Cava capital. However, for historical reasons, Cava can also be made in certain other towns and regions.
What makes Cava stand out from other sparkling wines is how it is made. The process follows the traditional method, or “méthode champenoise”, which is mainly characterised by a second fermentation in the same bottle.
This method both guarantees and defines the high quality of Cava.
At the Wine Buff we have focused our unique selection on sustainable, quality driven Cava wines.
From the Masachs family located in Vilafranca del Penedes in Spain, who have been producing wine since 1920, we have a Cava Brut with complex notes of yeast and white flowers with an elegant and rich long crisp finish. From the same vineyard we also have a Rosé Cava Brut which is salmon pink in colour, with a nose of violets and wild berries, and in the mouth lively fresh strawberry and blackcurrant with a fine finish.
From winemaker Manual Olmo we have an organic and vegan cava, Pasión Cuvée Brut Nature. This is not very common in the world of Cavas, because it has always been organically grown and sustainable.
