Domaine Gilles Bouton Meursault 1er Cru 'Blagny' 2024
Gilles Bouton took over the family’s 4-hectare vineyards in 1977 and has since expanded to 12 hectares spread across four of Burgundy’s most celebrated white wine villages — Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, and Meursault. The holdings are divided across 70 different plots, typical of Burgundy’s famously fragmented landscape. His son Julien joined in 2008, and together they sell most of their wines to private individuals. We are fortunate to receive a limited consignment once a year. Meursault whites are among the most sought-after and highly regarded white wines in the world.
About This Wine
A Premier Cru Meursault from the Blagny climat, farmed to HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certified standards. Meursault 1er Cru represents the pinnacle of white Burgundy — Chardonnay of extraordinary concentration, complexity, and longevity. This is a wine to cellar and savour, with a decade of drinking ahead of it.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep gold with warm amber highlights.
Nose: Floral and complex — white peach, citrus, toasted oak, and a hint of butter.
Palate: Concentrated and rich with lively acidity, fine integrated oak, and a creamy, textured mid-palate.
Finish: Long, complex, and persistent — the hallmark of great white Burgundy.
Food Pairing
A wine for the finest occasions — exceptional with roast chicken, lobster, turbot, rich fish dishes, and aged cheeses. The concentration and oak integration also make it a natural partner for veal and creamy sauces.
