Chateau de Vaux Yannick de Vermount Fleurie 2024

The family estate of Château de Vaux is in the heart of the village of Vaux-en-Beaujolais, and has been passed down from father to son for five generations. The Château itself was built in the 12th century, marking the imprint of the monks of Cluny who built the Romanesque church and planted the first vines in the town. It was in the 1920s that Louis de Vermont decided to take over the property — previously the grapes had been sold in bulk to large négociants. He prioritised direct sales and the promotion of the Beaujolais vineyard, a tradition continued by his son Roger, then his grandson Jacques.

About This Wine

Today it is Yannick de Vermont who works the family vines, doing so in an eco-responsible and sustainable spirit. The estate holds both Terra Vitis and HVE Certified (High Environmental Value) certification since the 2019 vintage — a genuine commitment to the land that has been in the family for over a century. This 100% Gamay from the Fleurie cru is a wine of real finesse and precision, capturing everything that makes Fleurie the most elegant of the Beaujolais crus.

Palate: Silky and soft with smooth tannins and lively acidity. The fruit is precise and expressive, with a lovely juicy red cherry character that carries through beautifully.
Finish: Juicy and persistent with a clean, red cherry-driven close.

Food Pairing

A wonderfully versatile Fleurie — excellent with roast chicken, guinea fowl, game birds, or a fine charcuterie board. Also great with soft cheeses, grilled fish, or a light mushroom dish. Serve slightly chilled for maximum freshness and elegance.
