Anselmi Ca-Stele Verduzzo 2025
The Anselmi family established themselves as winemakers in the 1920s when they purchased a small estate in the north-east of Italy in the Friuli region. The vineyard is located on the coast, enjoying warm days and a cooling effect in the evenings. The family business is now run by brothers Guiseppe and Luigi Anselmi, who still use traditional techniques to create aromatic and flavoursome wines.
About This Wine
Verduzzo is an indigenous Friulian white grape that produces one of Italy's most distinctive dessert wines. The Ca-Stele Verduzzo achieves its sweetness through late harvesting and the Passito method — drying the grapes before fermentation to concentrate sugars and flavour. The result is a wine that is sweet but also light and balanced, more in the style of a German Riesling than a heavy dessert wine, with a perfect mix of richness, honey, tropical fruit, almonds, and balancing acidity.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep honey yellow with slight viscosity
Nose: Honey, tropical fruits, and almonds with a delicate richness
Palate: Sweet but light and balanced, with honey, tropical fruit, and a clean acidity
Finish: Long and aromatic with lingering honey and almond
Food Pairing
A classic match for soft cheeses, foie gras, and light desserts. Also excellent on its own as a digestif.
