Villa Erbice Amarone della Valpolicella 2018
It was back in 1870 when grandpa Narciso Erbice began to make wines in a historical Venetian villa dating back to the 17th century. Brothers Silvio and Alberto Erbice are the current custodians of the family vineyards and winery. The Tremenel Amarone is made from the family vineyard using traditional sustainable farming, with all steps in production carried out by hand. Silvio is passionate about minimum intervention in the vineyard, using only natural products — he strongly believes that artificial input disrupts the natural balance of the plants, the quality of the fruit, and ultimately the finesse of the wine.
About This Wine
Amarone della Valpolicella is one of Italy's greatest wines — made from partially dried Corvina and Rondinella grapes that are fermented to dryness, producing a wine of extraordinary concentration, power, and complexity. The Villa Erbice Tremenel embodies the spirit of the region and the passion of the Erbice brothers: vigorous in body, yet at the same time soft, warm, full, and smooth.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep garnet with ruby hints
Nose: Earthy fragrance of tobacco and ripe black fruit with a whiff of spice
Palate: Black cherry layered with raisin, white pepper, nutmeg, and cocoa; bracing but refined tannins
Finish: Long and complex with exceptional ageing potential
Food Pairing
A natural partner for red meats, game, aged hard cheeses, and rich braised dishes. Also magnificent on its own as a contemplative wine.
