La Mancha Wines
The La Mancha country side is vast and relatively flat, with stunning red limestone outcrops. The region is ideal for wine growing with extreme temperatures ranging from -15 º in the winter to a stifling 45 º in the height of the summer. One word can sum up the region “dryness” with no moist winds and minimal rainfall, the landscape is baked in 3000 hours of sunshine a year, plenty to ripen the grapes and offer some great mouth-watering wines.
Wine making is in the life blood of the region in fact its embedded in the customs, festivals and literature of the villages of La Mancha. The age old traditions have given way to modern techniques and new influences which are resulting in some outstanding fruit driven wines at a fraction of the cost of its pricier neighbours.
