Château Fourquet Castillon 2022
To the east of St. Emilion, and on the north bank of the Dordogne, Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux is gaining a considerable reputation. The area has significant vineyards on the higher slopes with a clay and limestone base. The style of the wines is akin to good St. Emilion, and the wines use predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. In common with other regions recognised to produce interesting and good value wines, several well-known St. Emilion proprietors have invested in the appellation over the past decade. The 2016 vintage was Pierre's first vintage to be certified as HEV Level 3 "High Environmental Value".
Pierre Lavau’s Castillon wine is attractively balanced with black fruits that are well integrated into the soft tannins, with perfumed acidity and a ripe, juicy texture. Developing deliciously, the wine is ready to be drunk.
