Château Bejac Romleys Medoc 2020
Château Bejac Romelys is owned by Sylvie and Xavier Berrouet, who founded the estate in 1985 on 2.5 hectares within 800 metres of the Gironde estuary. In 1986 they produced a small quantity of their first vintage after withdrawing from the local cooperative, and over the following years built a modern winery with a vat room, barrel cellar, and bottle cellar. The name Romelys is a tribute to their two children — Ro-dolphe and Melys-sa. The vineyard holds the distinction of being one of just 44 estates selected in the 2006 Cru Artisan classification.
About This Wine
A classic Médoc blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, this is a Cru Artisan Bordeaux with genuine depth and character. HVE Certified and sustainably farmed, it delivers the structure and elegance of the Médoc in a style that is approachable now but has the backbone to reward further cellaring.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby red with garnet hints.
Nose: Classic Bordeaux — cassis and cedarwood with notes of wild berry and a hint of fruit liqueur.
Palate: Well-integrated tannins deliver a fine balance between flavour and structure. Dark fruit, wild berry, and a touch of spice are enfolded in pleasant, polished tannin.
Finish: Long and expressive with attractive oak flavours returning on the finish.
Food Pairing
A classic match for lamb — roast leg, rack, or slow-cooked shoulder. Also excellent with grilled red meats, beef stew, or a well-aged hard cheese. The wine’s structure and dark fruit make it a natural partner for rich, savoury dishes.
