Château des Graviers Margaux 2020

Château des Graviers is located in the village of Arsac in the Margaux appellation, where this family estate has been prospering through four generations. It holds the prestigious Cru Artisan designation — awarded by the French government in 2006 to only 44 independently owned châteaux that consistently produce high-quality wine, making it more exclusive than Cru Bourgeois. The vineyards extend over 7 hectares with vines averaging 30 years of age. Beehives and lavender plants are scattered across the property, no chemical herbicide is used on the soil, and the estate is farmed biodynamically. The Wine Buff has built a close relationship with Christophe, the owner, allowing us to offer a special cuvée of his wine exclusively.

A five-grape Margaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, farmed biodynamically and crafted with the precision and restraint that defines the great wines of this appellation. With a drinking window of up to 20 years, this is a wine to cellar with confidence — or to enjoy now with a couple of hours of decanting.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep purple with violet hues.
Nose: Very pleasant and complex — sweet earth, blackberry, violet, cherry, and vanilla with mild hints of oak and toffee.
Palate: Layered and deep with wave after wave of dark berry fruit, never overpowering. Powerful yet silky, with a gentle elegance that is the hallmark of great Margaux.
Finish: Very long and lingering with a refined, persistent aftertaste.

Food Pairing

A natural partner for the finest cuts — roast lamb, venison, or slow-braised meats. Also excellent with aged hard cheeses or a classic beef Wellington. The wine’s silky structure and complexity reward equally fine food.
