Château La Fauconnerie Montagne St Emilion (Cuvee Prestige) 2021
Montagne-Saint-Émilion produces red wines closest in style to its celebrated neighbour Saint-Émilion — always with richness, depth, and the generous fruit character of the right bank. Château La Fauconnerie is a Wine Buff exclusive, and the Cuvée Prestige represents the very best the estate has to offer: made only from the finest vines on the premium plots, with production limited to between 3,500 and 4,500 bottles per year depending on the vintage. It is aged for a minimum of 12 months in new oak barrels, giving the wine the structure and complexity to reward cellaring over the next decade.
About This Wine
A Merlot-led blend with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Cuvée Prestige is a bold, structured Bordeaux with real ambition. The combination of premium terroir, low yields, and careful oak ageing produces a wine that punches well above its appellation — a genuine collector’s bottle from a Wine Buff exclusive estate, available only through our shops and online.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby red with garnet hues.
Nose: Toasted oak and ripe cherries with hints of vanilla and a subtle blackcurrant note — complex and inviting.
Palate: Bold and well-structured with generous red fruit, integrated oak, and a lovely interplay of ripe cherry, vanilla, and dark fruit. The tannins are firm but polished, giving the wine excellent balance and ageing potential.
Finish: Long and persistent with a touch of blackcurrant and toasted oak on the close.
Food Pairing
A wine of this structure and depth deserves a worthy table — roast lamb, grilled red meats, or game. Also excellent with slow-braised beef, venison, or a rich mushroom-based dish. Decant for an hour before serving to allow the wine to fully open.
