Tornesi Brunello di Montalcino 2020
Brunello di Montalcino comes from a very distinct and designated DOCG region in Tuscany, about 70 miles south of Florence. By regulation, Brunello must be produced from 100% Sangiovese Grosso — the Brunello clone of Sangiovese — and is typically among the finest and most age-worthy wines produced from the grape. The Tornesi family estate is next to the famed vineyards of Biondi-Santi, benefiting from higher elevation and excellent exposure that provides fruit with acidic backbone, intense aromatics, ripeness, and body.
About This Wine
A sustainably farmed Brunello di Montalcino from Maurizio Tornesi — a true Tuscan farmer who knows the land of Montalcino and the Sangiovese Grosso grape like the back of his hand. Aged 24 months in oak in a rugged, traditional style, this is still a young wine with significant tannic structure — worth opening for a few hours before drinking, or cellaring for several more years to reveal its full potential.
