Pinot Grigio (sometimes know as Pinot Gris) white wines from the Friuli region in Italy are known for their refreshing and crisp character, making them an ideal choice for both casual sipping and enjoying with a variety of dishes.

Pinot Grigio is normally a light-bodied, high-acid, delicate white wine, although the top producers turn out wines that have more of everything: more intense aromas, flavour, and weight - no Pinot Grigio is ever as rich and full-bodied as a Pinot Gris, the French wine made with the same grape. 

The level of acidity of Pinot Grigio makes it a particularly good match for light seafood dishes, avoiding meaty fish like tuna, or lobster dishes with heavy sauces. Crab or shrimp salad is a great choice, as are grilled halibut, poached salmon, sushi or calamari. If you’re a fan of shellfish, freshly-caught oysters and seared scallops also pair beautifully with a crisp bottle of pinot.
