Domaine Michelas-St Jemms Saint-Joseph Sainte Epine 2021
About This Wine
This wine originates from a vineyard located on the north-facing slope of Côte-Sainte-Épine, at an altitude of 480 meters. The grapes were entirely destemmed, fermented in oak barrels, and then aged for 12 months in 400-litre barrels.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Glossy, black-cherried colour.
Nose: On the nose, vegetal aromas (iris, humus) mingle with the mineral notes of the terroir and the toasty nuances imparted by oak aging. Intensely ripe, almost jammy expression of Saint-Joseph.
Palate: Full-bodied, ample, and fresh, supported by dense concentrated chalky tannins and blackcurrant acidity.
Finish: The long, silky finish already offers considerable enjoyment, but also allows for further aging of a few years.
Food Pairing
Great with roasted duck breast (especially with a fruit reduction like figs or cherries), roast chicken, quail, or a cozy chicken casserole with a touch of pepper and spice balance the wine perfectly
