Ribera del Duero Wines
The Ribera del Duero region is a bleak rural wine growing landscape with a short intense wine growing period, bud break on the vines is the latest in Europe, risk of frost in May, extreme heat in August and the risk again of frost in late September, with all this against it the wine region is now challenging Rioja as the leading area for Spanish wines.
Ribera wine was once only renowned for the famous Vega Sicilia it now has many Bodegas of outstanding quality. Its reds are rich, meaty and chock full of black fruit.
