Queirón Mi Lugar 2019

The wines from Queirón adhere to the new Rioja classification “Vino de Pueblo” which means the vineyards must be family owned within a named village. It is in effect moving back to the traditional ways, rather than the big wine makers buying grapes from all over the region and making a generic Rioja wine. A blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Granacha from various family plots over 600m, using predominately bush vines. The wine spends 18 months in new oak barrels and a final 6 months in large French oak foudres.

wine tasting notes

Aroma of dense black fruit and blueberries, with hints of spice, coffee, and eucalyptus. Big tasting wine with bramble fruit, well integrated oak, and lively acidity.
