Queirón Mi Lugar 2020
Queirón is the project of the Pérez Cuevas family — the same family behind Bodegas Ontañón — and the dream of Gabriel Pérez, who spent a decade designing and overseeing the construction of the new Queirón winery, nestled into the hillside above Quel to replicate the traditional gravity-fed wine caves of the town. The wines adhere to the Rioja classification of Vino de Pueblo — meaning the vineyards must be family-owned within a named village — a return to the traditional ways of making wine with a genuine sense of place.
About This Wine
Mi Lugar (‘My Place’) is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha from various family plots at over 600 metres altitude, using predominantly bush vines. Aged for 18 months in new oak barrels followed by a further 6 months in large French oak foudres, this is a wine of real depth, structure, and terroir character.
