La Prieure de Saint Ceols Creme de Cassis
La Prieure de Saint Ceols is a Terra Vitis certified estate in the Loire Valley, where Pierre Jacolin produces one of France’s finest crèmes de cassis entirely from the Noir de Bourgogne blackcurrant variety — grown exclusively on the domaine. This is a natural product, made traditionally and without compromise, in stark contrast to the mass-produced liqueurs that rely on extracts, synthetic ingredients, colourants, and chemicals.
About This Liqueur
With an extraordinary concentration of 800 grams of blackcurrants per litre, this crème de cassis is in a different league from anything you’ll find on a supermarket shelf. The Noir de Bourgogne variety is prized for its intense flavour and deep colour, and here it is allowed to express itself fully — thick, rich, and bursting with the sensation of perfectly ripe fruit. Enjoy it as a digestif over ice, or use it to make a classic Kir or Kir Royale.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep, inky blackcurrant purple — intensely vivid.
Nose: Pure, concentrated blackcurrant with a natural freshness — no artificiality, just the real fruit.
Palate: Hugely concentrated and richly textured. The intense blackcurrant flavour coats the tongue in a wave of ripe fruit with a thick, luscious body.
Finish: Long and deeply fruity, leaving a lingering sensation of perfectly ripe blackcurrant.
Serving Suggestions
Serve over ice as a digestif, or mix with dry white wine for a classic Kir, or with Champagne or sparkling wine for a Kir Royale. Also excellent drizzled over vanilla ice cream or used in desserts and sauces.
