Bodegas Ontañón Rioja Crianza 2022

Bodegas Ontañón is a fifth-generation family estate with deep roots in Quel, in the Rioja Oriental. Gabriel Pérez Cuevas began bottling wine from the family's vineyards in the early 1980s rather than selling the fruit, determined to produce wines that embodied the character of this part of Rioja. Today his children Raquel, Rubén, and María continue that tradition. The Crianza is made from 40-year-old vines grown on the slopes of the Sierra Yergas, where warm days and cold nights build both ripeness and acidity in equal measure.

About This Wine

A vegan-friendly Rioja Crianza from old vines in Rioja Oriental — a sub-region known for wines with crisp acidity, elegant fruit, and a distinctive mineral and herbal character. Tempranillo and Garnacha combine to deliver the classic Rioja profile with real depth and finesse.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep ruby red
Nose: Black cherry with overtones of spice and subtle mineral and herbal notes
Palate: Voluptuous dark fruit with a delicate framework of natural acidity — full and dense with elegant structure
