Rippa Dorii Ribera del Duero Crianza 2022

Rippa Dorii is an Ontañón family project in Ribera del Duero — Spain's most prestigious red wine appellation. The name is the Latin form of 'Ribera del Duero', inspired by the nearby 13th-century chapel of Santa María de Ripa Dorii in Torrecilla de la Abadesa. The vineyards are located in the Fuentecén area, in the heart of the region, at altitudes over 900 metres where the harsh continental climate — irregular rain, uncertain frosts, and short, extremely hot summers — pushes the vines to produce wines of exceptional concentration and character.

About This Wine

A serious Ribera del Duero Crianza aged for 12 months in new oak barrels — 70% French and 30% American — developing the complexity and structure that defines the appellation at its best. Rich, complex, and built to age, this is a wine of real depth and personality from one of Rioja's most respected family producers.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep ruby with violet hints
Nose: Bramble fruit, vanilla, nutmeg, and sweet spice from the oak ageing
Palate: Rich and complex with blueberry and blackberry fruit, ripe tannins, and good length
Finish: Long and structured with lingering dark fruit and spice

Food Pairing

Excellent with grilled meats and lamb. The structure and dark fruit also make it a great match for slow-roasted dishes and aged cheeses.
