Domaine de la Feuillarde Bourgogne 2023

Located at Prissé in the Mâconnais, Domaine de la Feuillarde has been run for the last 35 years by Lucien Thomas, who took over from his father and grandfather before him — a family tradition going back to 1934. Lucien brings rigorous working methods and an uncompromising pursuit of quality: “I know exactly the kind of quality I want to produce and the work calls for a draconian approach.” He also brings a broader perspective, having studied business before spending 15 years in agriculture. Over his tenure the domaine has grown from 10 to 20 hectares, with working methods profoundly changed to target lower yields. Today Domaine de la Feuillarde is HVE Certified (Haute Valeur Environnementale).

About This Wine

A 100% Pinot Noir from the Mâconnais, aged in 55% new and 45% one-year-old French oak barrels — a careful balance that adds structure and complexity without overwhelming the fruit. This is a Bourgogne Rouge of genuine character: fruity, rounded, and elegantly crafted, with the fine tannins and natural harmony that come from low yields and meticulous attention in the vineyard and winery.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Bright ruby red with garnet hints.
Nose: Fresh and inviting with notes of ripe red fruits and raspberries — pure, clean, and expressive.
Palate: Fruity and rounded with very fine tannins that blossom on the palate, revealing suppleness and harmony. The oak is well-integrated, adding texture without weight.
Finish: Smooth and persistent with a clean, red fruit-driven close.

Food Pairing

A versatile Burgundy red — excellent with duck, roast poultry, or a fine charcuterie board. Also great with mature cheeses, mushroom-based dishes, or a classic Burgundian coq au vin. The wine’s suppleness and fruit make it an easy, rewarding choice for the table.
