Domaine de la Feuillarde St Veran 2024
Domaine de la Feuillarde is one of the finest estates in St-Véran, created in 1934 and now extending over 12 hectares on southwest-facing slopes in the Mâconnais. The Thomas family has been estate-bottling the majority of their production since 1987, specialising entirely in St-Véran. Lucien Thomas, the owner and winemaker, produces his wine from old vines planted around a remarkable single-block, south-southwest-facing amphitheatre vineyard — a site of exceptional natural advantage.
About This Wine
The vineyards are ploughed, the vines severely pruned, and yields carefully monitored by cluster-thinning — Lucien Thomas seeks the fullest expression of fruit and terroir in every bottle. His wines have been regularly acclaimed by critics for their focus, purity, and intensity, earning a full-page feature in Wine Spectator as early as 2004. HVE Certified and sustainably farmed, this St-Véran is a benchmark expression of old-vine Chardonnay from one of Burgundy’s most dedicated producers.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Bright with a light gold hue.
Nose: Elegant aromas of fresh peach and lemon with a subtle hint of flint — classic Mâconnais Chardonnay character.
Palate: Crisp and well-balanced with a lovely mix of white fruit, citrus, and a mineral flint note that adds complexity and length.
Finish: Clean, focused, and refreshing with good persistence.
Food Pairing
A natural partner for fish and seafood — try with grilled sole, scallops, or a classic fish pie. Also excellent with roast chicken, soft cheeses, or a simple summer salad. The wine’s crisp minerality makes it a wonderfully versatile white for the table.
