Domaine Gille Côtes de Nuits-Villages 2022
Domaine Gille is a family-run estate that exudes tradition and classic winemaking, while embracing the benefits of modern technology. The Gille family are one of the oldest settlements in the village, with roots as winegrowers dating back to 1570. The current nine hectares trace their origins to plots first acquired by Henry Gille, born in 1756, and many of the vines are over 100 years old. Mathieu Gille continues the family tradition today, following biodynamic principles throughout the vineyards and applying minimal intervention in both the vineyard and winery to allow the true character of the terroir and Pinot Noir grape to shine through.
About This Wine
A 100% Pinot Noir from the Côtes de Nuits-Villages appellation, this is a beautifully crafted village-level Burgundy from one of the region’s most historic family estates. HVE Certified and sustainably farmed, it offers the classic elegance and depth of the Côte de Nuits in a style that is approachable now but has the structure to develop further over the next decade.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Good deep ruby red with garnet hues.
Nose: Ripe black fruit and redcurrant with a sweet, inviting character and subtle nutty oak notes from careful barrel ageing.
Palate: Sweet and supple with a chewy, youthful energy. The fruit is generous and expressive, with fine tannins providing excellent structure and balance.
Finish: Long and lingering with fine tannins and a great, persistent aftertaste.
Food Pairing
A classic partner for roast chicken, guinea fowl, or game birds. Also excellent with duck breast, mushroom risotto, or a fine charcuterie board. The wine’s depth and structure make it equally rewarding alongside a celebratory roast or a quiet weeknight dinner.
