Domaine Gille Côtes de Nuits-Villages 2021
Domine Gille is a family-run estate that exudes tradition and classic winemaking practices, while still embracing the benefits of modern technology. In fact the Gille’s are one of the oldest family settlements in the village, and winegrowers for many generations, dating back all the way to 1570! The current nine hectares date back to plots acquired by Henry Gille born in 1756 and many of the vines are over 100 years old. Perre Gille with his son Matthew continue the family tradition. In order to obtain the true characteristic of the terroir and pinot noir grape minimal intervention occurs in the vineyards and winery.
Biodynamic wine making principles are followed throughout the vineyards, experience has led to the careful control of the land and vines. Burgundy wine cannot be produced industrially, it takes a lot of work, effort and attention before the grapes are harvested and fall into the tanks in the winery. This is the cost that results in a unique wine from this region.
Good deep red colour, ripe black fruit and redcurrant. Sweet and supple, chewy but youthful with nutty oak flavours. The fine tannins are present in the finish with a great lingering after taste.
