Dão Wines
The Dão region lies in the centre of Portugal below the Duoro valley, it is surrounded by mountains, and the vineyards themselves are at altitudes ranging from 200–900m. This means that the region is protected to a degree from the Atlantic weather, to the west, but not fully exposed to the harsh continental climate to the east. The climate and the granite soils are perfect for producing elegant reds with mouth-watering acidity. In the last couple of decades, the potential of this region is beginning to be realised again and the quality of the wines have improved beyond recognition in a few short years.
