Casar de Burbia Mencia 2021
Casar de Burbia was founded in 2002 by Nemesio Fernández in Bierzo — the rugged, mountainous wine region in north-west Spain that has emerged as one of the country's most exciting appellations for indigenous varieties. The estate farms organically, working with old Mencía vines on the region's distinctive slate and clay soils to produce wines of real depth and terroir character.
About This Wine
An organic Mencía from Bierzo — vinified in 10,000-litre tanks and aged in French oak barrels for 10–12 months. Mencía is Bierzo's signature red grape, producing wines of dark fruit intensity, firm structure, and the mineral, earthy character that the region's slate soils deliver. A wine of real personality and ageing potential.
