Tokaji Classic Aszú 5 Puttonyos 2014 (50cl)

Tokaji Classic is based in Mád, one of the most prestigious villages in the Tokaj wine region — home to some of Hungary's greatest Grand Cru vineyards. Winemaker Imre Galambosi, the local mayor, farms 8 hectares across the Grand Cru Király and Betsők sites, with vines averaging 30 years of age. The estate has won 6 consecutive Gold medals for its Aszú wines and is exclusive to The Wine Buff in Ireland.

About This Wine

Tokaji Aszú is one of the world's great dessert wines — made from botrytis-affected grapes (Aszú berries) that are added to base wine in measured quantities called puttonyos. Five puttonyos indicates a rich, concentrated style with significant residual sugar and the complex, honeyed character that makes Tokaji so unique. A blend of Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Muscat, this is a wine built for decades of cellaring.
