Huteau Boulanger Clos Perraud Muscadet Sur Lie 2022

Huteau Boulanger is a family estate in the Muscadet appellation at the western end of the Loire Valley, where François Boulanger tends some of the region’s finest old vines. Clos Perraud is a single-vineyard wine made from Melon de Bourgogne vines over 50 years old — a rarity in an appellation where old vine material is increasingly prized. The wine spends 18 months resting on its lees (sur lie), a traditional Muscadet technique that builds texture, complexity, and that characteristic creamy freshness that sets the finest examples apart from the crowd.

About This Wine

Muscadet sur Lie is one of France’s great food wines — crisp, mineral, and alive with the saline freshness of the Atlantic coast. Clos Perraud takes that tradition and elevates it: the combination of 50+ year old vines and extended lees ageing produces a wine of genuine depth and complexity, far removed from the simple, neutral Muscadets of the past. This is a wine that rewards attention and rewards the table.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Pale gold with green highlights.
Nose: Fresh and aromatic with notes of exotic fruit and citrus — lemon zest, grapefruit, and a subtle floral lift from the extended lees contact.
Palate: Smooth and refreshing with a lovely creamy texture from 18 months sur lie. The fruit is clean and precise with a pleasing mineral backbone and lively natural acidity.
Finish: Crisp and mineral with a clean, saline-tinged close that lingers pleasantly.

Food Pairing

The classic Muscadet pairing — oysters, mussels, clams, or any fresh shellfish. Also excellent with grilled fish, sea bass, or a fresh goat’s cheese. The wine’s minerality and freshness make it one of the most food-friendly whites in our range for seafood lovers.
