Montsant Wines

The Montsant wine region is in Catalonia, northern Spain. It surrounds, in the shape of a C the more renowned Prioriat region. It was originally categorised as a sub-wine region of Tarragona, but local growers felt the high-altitude vineyards were unique and special in their own right. As a result, the Montsant DO was created in 2001. 

Montsant red wines have earned a reputation for their high-quality, particularly those based on old Garnacha and Carinena (Carignan) vines
