Montaribaldi Barbaresco Palazzina 2022

Montaribaldi is a family estate in Piedmont, producing wines from Nebbiolo — the noble grape of Barolo and Barbaresco — in the Langhe hills. The Palazzina Barbaresco is aged for approximately 20 months in a combination of 225-litre used barriques and new 2,500-litre oak barrels, then bottled two years after harvest and held in the Montaribaldi cellars for at least a further six months before release. A wine built for patience and the long term.

About This Wine

A sustainably farmed Barbaresco DOCG from 100% Nebbiolo — the most refined and elegant of Montaribaldi's Nebbiolo wines, with lighter tannins than the estate's other Barbarescos and a particularly refined, complex character. Violets, sour cherry, and cocoa on the nose give way to a full-bodied palate with underlying menthol and truffle. A wine of real distinction and ageing potential.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Garnet ruby with orange hints
Nose: Hints of violets, sour cherry, cocoa, vanilla, and mint from oak maturation
Palate: Full-bodied with lighter tannins, very refined, with underlying menthol and truffle
Finish: Long and complex with exceptional ageing potential

Food Pairing

A natural partner for red meats, roast lamb, game, and aged hard cheeses. Also excellent with truffle dishes and rich risotto.
