Torrent Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Torrent Bay is made by Anchorage Family Wines, founded and owned by the Drummond family, who can trace their farming history in Motueka back to 1866 — pioneers in horticulture and agriculture in the Nelson region. The first vines were planted in spring 2000 in rich river loam beside the mouth of the Motueka River. Winemaker Tony Southgate, former New Zealand Winemaker of the Year (2012), joined Anchorage in 2019 with a clear vision: to make wines that are immaculate, clean, and that everyday people can drink.
About This Wine
Made from Sauvignon Blanc grown in the Nelson region of New Zealand, where balmy sea breezes and some of the country's highest sunshine readings create ideal conditions for aromatic, fruit-forward whites. Nelson Sauvignon Blanc has a distinctive tropical generosity that sets it apart from the more herbaceous Marlborough style.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale gold with a fresh, bright appearance
Nose: Aromatic and inviting — gooseberry, blackcurrant leaf, and subtle tropical fruit with a herbaceous edge
Palate: Dry and fresh with juicy tropical flavours, hints of lime, and a clean, well-balanced mouthfeel
Finish: Clean and refreshing with a crisp, herbaceous close
Food Pairing
Excellent with grilled fish, seafood, and fresh salads. The tropical fruit and herbaceous character also make it a great match for Asian cuisine and goat's cheese.
