Delta Hatters Hill Pinot Noir 2021

The Delta Wine Company was founded in 2000 with a single Pinot Noir vineyard — the Delta Farm, first established in 1846 by Constantine Dillon, situated to the west of Blenheim in Marlborough's Southern Valleys. The vineyard's distinctive triangular shape on topographic maps gave rise to the name Delta, after the Greek capital letter. The Hatters Hill name honours Tom Hatter, an eccentric character of rural Marlborough in the early 1900s, said to have spent his days tending orchards and walking the hills overlooking the site. It was considered "mad as hatters" to focus on Pinot Noir in Marlborough in the early 2000s — the quality of the wine proved the doubters wrong.

About This Wine

Harvested from 27 hectares of Pinot Noir planted in 2002 from selected Dijon clones, in rich clay soils at elevation in Marlborough's Southern Valleys. Warm days and cool nights create ideal conditions for top-quality Pinot Noir — structured, aromatic, and built to age. Vegan-friendly and crafted by winemaker Heather Stewart, this is Delta's flagship red and one of Marlborough's finest Pinot Noirs.
