Bodegas Ontañón Plinio el Viejo Ecologia 2021
Bodegas Ontañón produces Plinio el Viejo from one of their most special certified organic vineyards: Andañal, located at over 720 metres above sea level on the slopes of the Sierra de Yerga in Rioja Oriental, specifically on the slopes of Mount Gatún. Planted in stages from 1995 to 2016, the high altitude means ripening is slow and deliberate — ideal conditions for Tempranillo to express its finest notes of finesse and subtlety. Light barrel ageing of four to six months enhances the wine's fruity and floral aromas without masking the terroir.
About This Wine
An organic, vegan-friendly, high-altitude Tempranillo from one of Rioja Oriental's most distinctive vineyard sites. The combination of altitude, slow ripening, and light oak ageing produces a wine of real elegance — complex, mineral, and beautifully balanced, with a character that sets it apart from more conventional Rioja.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Cherry red with purple trim

Palate: Elegant and well-balanced with perfect harmony between acidity and tannins, and a distinctive mineral character
