Domaine Maratray Dubreuil Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru Les Vergelesses 2024

The vineyards of Maratray Dubreuil have been worked by the same family for three generations, deeply rooted in the Côte de Beaune. The Maratray family hails from the village of Ladoix, while the Dubreuil vineyards trace their origins to Pernand-Vergelesses — a name that resonates in this very wine. Today the estate is managed by the sister and brother team of Marie Madeleine and Francis Xavier Maratray. All grapes are hand-harvested, and Francis Xavier vinifies each wine individually, guided by its terroir, the climate, and the character of the vintage. This small estate consistently over-delivers, producing wines that punch well above their weight in the Burgundy hierarchy.

About This Wine

Les Vergelesses is one of the most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards in Savigny-lès-Beaune, and this 100% Pinot Noir from Domaine Maratray Dubreuil is a benchmark expression of the site. HVE Certified and sustainably farmed, it offers a step up in complexity and depth from the village wines — a true Premier Cru with the structure and elegance to reward cellaring over the next decade.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep red with beautiful garnet hues.
Nose: Expressive and complex — wild strawberry, cherry, and coffee intertwined with warm spice, with notes of liquorice and blackcurrant emerging on the second nose.
Palate: Elegant and well-structured with a lovely interplay of red and dark fruit, spice, and earthy depth. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, giving the wine excellent balance and length.
Finish: Long and refined with lingering notes of liquorice, spice, and dark fruit.

Food Pairing

A Premier Cru deserves a worthy table — roast chicken, guinea fowl, duck breast, or game birds. Also excellent with mushroom-based dishes, soft cheeses, or a classic Burgundian coq au vin. The wine’s complexity and elegance reward equally considered food.
