Le Mas des Flauzieres Gigondas Terra Rossa 2019
In recent years the quality of the wines of Gigondas have come to rival those of the king of Southern Rhone wines, Chateauneuf du Pape. This blend of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah is made in exceedingly small quantities from the best vines in the best locations producing an extraordinary bottle of Gigondas red.
A full-bodied wine, still slightly tannic, but rounded, the nose is of Provencal herbs with scents of coffee, jammy raspberry, and rich cassis liqueur. In the mouth it is full of black cherry, stewed blackberry and tart red currants. Persistent tannins are very well integrated but still evident with good acidity on the finish. Decant before serving or put it aside and watch it slowly evolve over the course of the next decade or so.
