Swartland Bushvine Chenin Blanc 2025

Swartland Winery sits in one of South Africa's most exciting wine regions, where constant cool breezes off the Atlantic Ocean sustain diverse microclimates and the proximity to mountain ranges adds depth and character to the fruit. Chenin Blanc — known locally as Steen — was one of the first grapes planted in South Africa in 1655, originally from the Loire Valley in France, and it has found a natural home in the Swartland's warm, windswept landscape.

About This Wine

Chenin Blanc from unirrigated dry-land bush vines that are more than 40 years old. Yields are small and grapes amazingly concentrated.

Cool-fermented in stainless steel, this expressive wine captures vibrant freshness and an enticing bouquet of tropical fruit, ripe apple and zesty citrus. 40% is then fermented in French oak barrels, lending a gentle richness and added complexity while allowing the fruit to shine.

Six months of lees ageing enhanced the wine’s texture, bringing a silky creaminess, delicate butterscotch notes and a subtle honeyed depth. On the palate, layers of baked apple and citrus unfold alongside hints of honeycomb and buttery cream, all beautifully balanced by refreshing acidity.
