Villa Saletta Chiave di Saletta Toscana 2018
Supertuscan is a term used to describe a fine red wine from Tuscany that may include non-local grapes, particularly Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah.
About This Wine
The grape varieties are grown in individual vineyards and the varietals are fermented individually and aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. After maturation, the different varietals are meticulously blended to create a fresh and fragrant wine with full colours and supple, elegant textures and tannins. After bottling, the wine is given a considerable period of bottle ageing before release.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Intense red
Nose: Powerful aroma of berries and dark chocolate. Balsamic notes and spice from the aging in oak barrels.
Palate: Supple and boasts soft, velvety tannins due to the aging in new French oak barrels.
Finish: An elegant wine with a fine length and persistence, and a finish and aftertaste which recall mint, tobacco and chocolate.
Food Pairing
Pairs exceptionally well with roasted lamb, grilled beef, and slow-cooked Tuscan ragù. Its vibrant acidity, polished tannins, and notes of dark chocolate and cedar require rich, savoury dishes to complement its excellent structure.
