Montaribaldi Barolo Sarz 2020

In 1968 Pino Taliano founded the estate that would become Montaribaldi, acquiring vineyards throughout Piedmont with a vision to highlight the region's diverse soils, climatic conditions, and traditional varietals. In 1994, his son Luciano took over and renamed the estate Azienda Agricola Montaribaldi — a reference to the ancient Roman road linking the winery to its scattered vineyard holdings across 23.5 hectares of Piedmontese terroir.

About This Wine

Known as 'The King of Wines, The Wine of Kings,' Barolo is one of Italy's most celebrated reds. Luciano is a dedicated proponent of traditional Piedmontese winemaking, working almost exclusively with indigenous varietals and avoiding modern interventions. Yields are aggressively controlled, pesticides and herbicides are avoided, and cover crops are planted to foster biodiversity. Each parcel is vinified and bottled as a single cuvée to highlight the typicality of the terroir. The Sarz is aged two years in barrique, showcasing Nebbiolo at its classic best.
