Silgueiros Dão Colheita 2023

Silgueiros is located in the municipality of Viseu, in the heart of the Dão demarcated region — one of Portugal's oldest and most distinguished wine areas, nestled in the mountains just south of the Douro Valley. The estate name reflects a great family heritage, with traditions and techniques passed down through generations of traditional farming.

About This Wine

Dão is sometimes likened to Portugal's Burgundy — not for any physical similarity, but for its style: wines of subtlety and finesse rather than power, built on the natural acidity of indigenous mountain-grown grapes. The Colheita is a silky, light-bodied red blending four of the region's key varieties, led by Jaen, the signature red grape of the Dão. Elegant and food-friendly, it rewards those who appreciate restraint and terroir over weight.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Light ruby with garnet hints
Nose: Fresh red fruit, cherry, and subtle floral notes with a touch of earthiness
Palate: Light-bodied and silky with bright acidity, fine tannins, and delicate red fruit
Finish: Clean and refreshing with lingering cherry and a mineral edge

Food Pairing

Excellent with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, mushroom dishes, and soft cheeses. Also works well slightly chilled with charcuterie.
