Silgueiros Dão Colheita 2021

Silgueiros is located in the municipality of Viseu, in the heart of the Dão demarcated region. The term “morgado” means a property with a great family heritage, which reflects the traditions and techniques passed down over the generation.

Dão wine is produced in a mountainous region with a temperate climate and is one of the oldest established wine regions of Portugal, located just south of the famous Douro Valley.

Dão is sometimes likened to Portugal’s Burgundy. It’s not because of any physical similarity between the regions, but because of the style of wine. Like red Burgundy, good Dão doesn’t rely on power for its effect, but instead aims at subtlety and finesse, a cause helped by the good natural acidity of the grapes.

This is a light red, a silky blend of grapes including Jaen, the main red grape variety for the region, as well as Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional.
