Over 40 years ago, Gérard Morin took over the family’s 1½ hectares of vineyard in Bué, one of Sancerre’s finest villages. His son Pierre now runs the property, bringing with him a wealth of experience gained working in Australia’s Adelaide Hills and at the legendary Domaine Dujac in Burgundy — where he developed a deep passion for Pinot Noir. Under Pierre’s stewardship the estate has grown to nine hectares, with vineyards among the finest and steepest slopes in Bué.
About This Wine
Red Sancerre is one of the Loire Valley’s best-kept secrets — a 100% Pinot Noir from the same limestone and flint terroir that produces the appellation’s celebrated whites, but with an elegance and freshness that is entirely its own. Pierre keeps yields low through spring de-budding, harvests by hand with meticulous sorting, avoids herbicides, and uses natural yeasts for fermentation. The wine is aged for 12 months in two to four year-old barrels — adding silky texture without heavy oak character. Organically farmed and made with genuine conviction.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Bright ruby red with a translucent, elegant hue.
Nose: Ripe cherry and strawberry with a delicate floral lift and a subtle mineral note from the limestone terroir.
Palate: Light to medium-bodied with a lovely juicy freshness. The fruit is precise and expressive, with silky-smooth tannins from the older barrel ageing and a long, flavoursome finish.
Finish: Long and juicy with a clean, mineral-driven close that lingers beautifully.
Food Pairing
A perfect red to serve lightly chilled — a refreshing, flavoursome alternative to white or rosé. Excellent with game birds, roast chicken, white meats, or a fine charcuterie board. Also great with salmon, tuna, or a mushroom-based dish. The wine’s lightness and freshness make it one of the most versatile reds in our range.
