Guy Charlemagne Reserve Brut Grand Cru

Guy Charlemagne is based in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger on the Côte des Blancs — one of the most prestigious addresses in all of Champagne. The estate has been run by the Charlemagne family since 1892, now in the hands of Philippe Charlemagne, the fifth generation of father-to-son winemakers. The vineyards are farmed sustainably on the limestone-rich soils of Mesnil, producing Blanc de Blancs Champagnes of exceptional purity and mineral character.

About This Wine

The non-vintage Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Réserve is made entirely from Grand Cru Chardonnay grown on the limestone-rich soils of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger — one of the most celebrated terroirs in Champagne. Medium-bodied, racy, and mineral, this is a Blanc de Blancs of real elegance and depth.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Pale gold with fine persistent bubbles
Nose: Racy citrus fruit and ripe apple with a background of buttery brioche and almond
Palate: Medium-bodied with excellent freshness and a delicate smoky mineral backbone
Finish: Long and mineral — the unmistakable elegance of Grand Cru Chardonnay

Food Pairing

Excellent as an aperitif and with fish and fried food. The mineral precision also makes it a superb match for oysters, lobster, and fine seafood.
