Domaine Montmartel Côtes du Rhône 2023
Domaine Montmartel is owned by Damien Marres, whose prime vineyards are located in the Côtes du Rhône villages of Visan, Valréas, Tulette, and Saint-Maurice. Damien believes that the vines should be interfered with as little as possible, and over recent years has been converting his entire estate to organic farming. Based high up on the hillsides of the appellation, the vineyards benefit from excellent natural drainage and full sun exposure, promoting rich flavour concentration in the wines.
About This Wine
A classic organic Côtes du Rhône from Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan — the traditional grape varieties of the southern Rhône. Fruity and easy to drink yet complex and full-bodied, with plenty of rustic regional character and a natural, unforced quality. An ideal companion for the Sunday roast.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby with violet hints
Nose: Blackberry and plum fruit with violets, cedarwood, and a dusting of pepper
Palate: Well-structured with black berry and plum fruits, good depth, and a natural freshness
Finish: Long and satisfying — drinking well now
Food Pairing
Excellent with grilled meats, casseroles, and game. The structure and dark fruit also make it a great match for roast lamb and aged cheeses.
